I bought my Z in Chicago (a suburb of) and drove up from Columbia MO with both cash and a bank check to make the total amount. The seller gave me the keys and I drove the Z home with only a bill of sale to show cops in case I was pulled over for no license plates. The seller waited for the check to clear and made certain the funds were available to him, then mailed me the signed title. I think your best bet is to keep the bill of sale and title, since the vehicle will be transported, and then mail both out to the buyer once the funds clear and you DOUBLE check they are available to you.
